Valentine's Day

Valentine's day is notoriously unsexy in our house. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀
Three years ago we made dinner reservations but got a call from the sitter right as our entrees arrived telling me two month old Jude wouldn't stop crying. I left Jeffrey at the table with my salmon to relieve the sitter and comfort our sweet boy. Two years ago we opted for an easier Valentine's day--Thai food in and an episode of Suits. The rest of the night we spent on the floor of separate bathrooms with food posioning, sure we were dying. This year I had the cloud of postpartum hanging over me all day, leaving me weary and in bed at 8pm, ready for the day to just be over. ⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are 0 for 3 on Valentine's day. ⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last night we decided to have a redo of February 14th. We tried a new restaurant, we ordered a cheese plate and tasted each other's wine. We talked about podcasts we love, how I'm turning 30 in a month (!!!), and the friendships that are saving us right now.⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I went to bed last night full of good cheese and bread and intentional conversation. Here's to love that chooses to show up and try again, even on February 15th.
