A Milestone

We usually go for family walks after dinner is cleaned up, before baths + bedtime begin. It consists of the big kids walking, riding scooters, or being carried on Jeffrey’s shoulders when they get tired. Selah girl is always along for the ride in the stroller. We only make it around our little neighborhood loop. It takes about thirty minutes and lots of “okay keep moving” to the lollygaggers and “we’re almost home” to the complainers. ⁣

And then they learned how to ride bikes + our lives changed overnight. ⁣

Now, they grab their helmets, hop on their bikes, and I literally have to run to keep up with them. Gone are the days of wearing sandals on our family walks. I need my Nikes so I can pace with them.

It feels like a huge milestone. Sort of like the end of nursing a baby, or sending your first kid off to school. It’s a little shift in a small part of our day, but it is felt and I am loving it.
