“I am brave. I am strong. I am capable.” ⁣

Jeffrey and I listened to a podcast this week where a guy was talking about how he does a bedtime mantra with his daughter every night as she brushes her teeth. They look in the mirror and say together:⁣

“I am strong. I am smart. I am capable. I am brave. I’m glad I’m me. There’s no one else I’d rather be.⁣”

That very night Jeffrey started doing the mirror mantras with Elle. Every night since they say it together, and I think it’s the highlight of both their days. ⁣

Last night we decided to teach Elle how to ride her bike without training wheels. She was scared and kept saying “I can’t do it.” She took a couple falls and we could just see her confidence fading. Jeffrey kept encouraging her to get back on the bike and try again. As he was getting ready to help her launch one more time, he heard her little voice say:⁣

“I am brave. I am strong. I am capable.” ⁣

Jeffrey started tearing up at these words. An hour later she was riding by herself. ⁣

⁣Man. The words we speak over our kids are powerful. Praying that our kids hear us claiming these truths over them, until they launch from us.
