A Week Away

Spent the week staring at Jeffrey’s face and asking him questions, with time to hear his whole answer. We walked neighborhoods holding hands. We sat in silence, across from each other in coffee shops reading books, talking only to have the other read a really good page. ⁣

⁣We talked about our careers, taking turns to lift the other person up, allowing each other room to dream without restriction. ⁣

We set goals, we wrote in our planners, we checked in about finances. Then we celebrated with dinner at a Chef’s table and opted for the fancy wine pairing. ⁣

⁣We talked about each of our kids, who they are becoming, and how we can better love each of them individually. ⁣

We went to sleep early and woke up when our bodies decided they were ready. ⁣

This week was the definition of rest of us. Choosing to only do the things that filled us up. I feel excited to get back to the life we’ve created. This week was exactly what my soul needed, but I’m ready to get home and kiss some tiny faces + rock a baby to sleep.
